When the Sea is Gone is an exhibition chapter about two geographical points, two artists, two hands forming a shared frame and storks (cigognes) creating lines in the sky between these territories.

The voyage begins, the signal connects, images are sent, images are lost, and the yearly migration carves out lines in the sky forming a common image. The light of the sky prints images on a surface.

This process bridges the past and the present, all beginning with the analysis of an arabesque in an old Riad in Marrakesh.

Historiographing
with Henrique J. Paris

Artist-researcher Henrique J. Paris spent time as a resident at RAAR in January/February 2024 investigating modes of anti-colonial rupture in past cultural and religious movements — extending from his early concept ‘Home is Where the Body Isn’t’. On the occasion of 1:54 Art Fair 2024, he presented the research in the form of an installation-exhibition titled Historiographing.
